The Department of French and Italian cordially invites you to a lecture in English by Christine Levecq. Her recent monograph, Black Cosmopolitans: Race, Religion, and Republicanism in an Age of Revolution, examines the lives and thought of three extraordinary black men—Jacobus Capitein, Jean-Baptiste Belley, and John Marrant—who traveled extensively throughout the eighteenth-century Atlantic world.
