François Denoeu Memorial Prize

The François Denoeu Memorial Prize is given each year to a senior who has manifested outstanding accomplishment as an apprentice teacher and in courses on French Civilization.

François Denoeu

François Denoeu, whose devotion to teaching carried him from France to the New World, instilled through the spark of his enthusiasm and his widely-regarded publications, a love of France, its language, and its people, in several generations of Dartmouth students.  He came to Dartmouth as a visiting professor in 1929, and returned in 1934 to stay until his retirement in 1963.
