Wednesday, January 27, 2021
4:00pm – 5:00pm
Zoom
Intended Audience(s): Alumni, Faculty, Postdoc, Staff, Students-Graduate, Students-Undergraduate
Categories: Lectures & Seminars

In this lecture, Prof. Wampole will discuss her book Degenerative Realism:
Novel and Nation in Twenty-First-Century France (Columbia UP, 2020).
Wampole’s discussion of the “reactionary revival” — what we might call
the Houellebecq aesthetic — in French realist novels should be of broad
interest in our current political moment.
