Language Program Director of French

As the French Language Program Director, my goal is to make the learning of French fun, exciting, and rewarding for all students at Dartmouth. I am committed to provide students with experiential activities in and outside of the classroom to enhance their oral and written communication skills, intercultural sensitivity, adaptability, and critical reasoning. In my classroom, students investigate people's cultures and learn to exchange with Francophones from around the world through the learning of French.

My academic research focuses on Quebecois oral literature and storyteller's performance. My book project entitled The Authentic Trickster: Quebecois Conteurs in the Era of Globalization explores the resurgence of storytelling in Quebec, contemporary tale narratives, book-cd medium, and multimedia installations. I examine the paradox of authenticity in the global world through the intersection of orality and print culture. My interdisciplinary approach draws on multiple academic fields such as sociology, linguistics, audionarratology and intermediality theories as well as affect theory and performance.
